"Bruno" In Vogue at the UK Chart!
14 July 2009
He‘s only gone and done it! Sacha Baron Cohen‘s "Bruno" is officially the hottest thing on both sides of the Atlantic right now! Everyone‘s favourite fashionista managed to pull in £5 million to claim the top spot at the UK Box Office Chart! But he didn‘t have it all his own way. "Ice Age 3" continued its sterling run by nabbing a further £4.7 million to secure the runners–up spot. It‘s a steep step down though at 3 as "Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen" sticks around, however it finds itself in hallowed company as one of the top 5 highest grossing films in the UK in the past year!
"The Hangover" is a non–mover at 4 this week as Todd Phillip‘s breakout comedy hit staves off the competition from Johnny Depp‘s "Public Enemies", which falls three places to 5. Falling one place down to 6 is the gently effecting "My Sister‘s Keeper" whilst "Year One", Jack Black‘s so–so Dawn of Man comedy, continues to drop down the Chart at 7. Ben Stiller‘s "Night at The Museum 2" has had a great run but all things must come to an end as his family comedy is almost out of sight at 8.
Down two places to 9 is the Bollywood hit "Kambakkht Ishq" alongside this week‘s only other new entry – the Bollywood satire "Short Kut – The Con is On", which managed to gross £80,000 in its opening weekend to register in the Chart at 10.

"Bruno" takes the US Chart firmly from behind!
13 July 2009
Who‘d have funk it? After besetting the unsuspecting US folk with his uber fashionista, "Bruno", Sacha Baron Cohen‘s latest creation has in fact stormed the Box Office Chart this week and clinched the top spot with a remarkable $30.4 million! That‘s a good $5 million more than "Borat" and marks Cohen‘s biggest success to date! Not going down without a fight though at 2 is "Ice Age 3". Last week‘s Chart topper claimed a further $28 million to swell its coffers beyond the $100 million mark in the US market – and that‘s after only two weeks on general release! Meanwhile "Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen" continues to be the monster hit of the summer as Michael Bay‘s Robot–o–thon falls to 3 with $339 million to its name so far!
Johnny Depp‘s dapper Dillinger finds himself down one place to 4 as Michael Mann‘s "Public Enemies" continues to wreak havoc in the Chart. "The Proposal", starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, is proving the doubters wrong by sticking around at 5 whilst nabbing more than $100 million in domestic gross!
"The Hangover" is finally relinquishing its hold on the top spots this week as Todd Phillips‘ road–trip breakout falls to 6 having almost officially crowned itself as the highest grossing R Rated comedy of all time in the States! A new entry at 7 then is an altogether different R Rated comedy prospect in the form of "I Love You, Beth Cooper" starring Heroes‘ Hayden Penetierre. The bawdy comedy took a lacklustre $5 million in its opening weekend.
Disney/Pixar‘s "Up" is going down yet again to 8 this time with "My Sister‘s Keeper" falling two places to 9 and the Tony Scott–directed, Denzel Washington–starring "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" is this week‘s also–ran at 10.

Baron Cohen's "Bruno" on way?
27 October 2006
Given that his alter egos "Ali G" and "Borat" have both made the transition to the big screen, it should come as no surprise to learn that Sacha Baron Cohen is planning an outing for a third of his comedic creations. According to The Hollywood Reporter,Cohen, will next play gay Austrian fashionsita "Bruno" in a movie, which has got various studios waving huge cheques under his nose.
Apparently Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, Sony, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros Pictures are all keen to snag the worldwide rights to the film, which Cohen hopes to film next summer.
