Bloom fears "The Cross"
05 February 2009
Orlando Bloom. A cinematic quandary. And one that has been keeping his head down recently since "Pirates of The Caribbean: At World‘s End". But it would seem that Bloom is ready to get back in the saddle with a new sci–fi property. According to recent reports in Variety, Bloom will team up with Vincent Cassel ("Eastern Promises") and Olga Kurylenko ("Quantum of Solace") for director Andrew Niccol‘s "The Cross".
Set against the backdrop of a futuristic border town, Bloom is set to play a man seeking to cross a mysterious border, something no one else has achieved. Cassel, meanwhile, is the guard who will go to any lengths to stop him. Kurylenko takes the female lead and will no doubt provide Bloom with a little something to stay for! But why cross in the first place? Is there something chasing him? Reports that Bloom will be terrorised by his own shortcomings as an actor have been debunked.
Pre–production has begun on the $24 million sci–fi Great Escape, which is scheduled to start principal photography in July in Australia.
